Star Coulbrooke Named Logan Utah’s First Poet Laureate

Star Coulbrooke, an accomplished poet, Writing Center Director at Utah State University and organizer of the Helicon West writing/reading group, has been named Logan, Utah’s first poet laureate. According to information from the city of Logan, a northern Utah college town with a population of about 49,000, the poet laureate will “act as an ambassador and advocate for the arts.” In her two-year term as poet laureate, Coulbrooke will visit schools, hold public readings and write at least one commemorative poem about Logan. According to Coulbrooke, “Writing and sharing my own poetry, and helping others to appreciate poetry through readings, classes, workshops, and other events, has been the sustaining joy of my life. I’m thrilled to be Logan’s first Poet Laureate.”
